UCONN SUSI Social Entrepreneurship Challenge 2015

Ashoka's Youth Venture is pleased to partner with the University of Connecticut (UCONN and its "Study of the U.S Institute" (SUSI Program 2015) to support the Student Leaders from North and Sub-Saharan Africa to be Social Entrepreneurs. Youth Venture will assist the selected participants who have identified a solution to social challenges that they want to address in their communities.

2016 Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) Call for Applications

The African Innovation Foundation (AIF) is delighted to announce the call for its 2016 Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) applications. The IPA honors and encourages innovative achievements that contribute toward developing new products, increasing efficiency or saving cost in Africa. The prize also promotes among young African men and women the pursuit of science, technology and engineering careers as well as business opportunities with potential of contributing to sustainable development in Africa.

Bright Ideas Competition 2015

Are you passionate about international development and have an idea that could change the world?

Send us your Bright Ideas talk, and you might be selected to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Malta, with all your travel and accommodation expenses covered by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

What will the winner receive?

The Commonwealth Secretariat will cover the costs of an economy return airfare from the winner’s country (or current location), plus necessary visas.  The Government of Malta will cover the cost of the winner’s accommodation and meals while at the Commonwealth Youth Forum.

The winner may also have an opportunity to present their work at the Commonwealth Youth Forum.

Sustainable Entrepreneurship Awards (SEA) 2015

Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award (SEA) is looking for businesses/projects/ideas, whose innovative, lucrative business models have found the solution to a corporate problem. Independent from size, industry or country everybody is invited to submit project, idea and/or business model focused on Sustainable Entrepreneurship. The best projects and ideas will be honored within a festive Gala in Vienna, in November 2015. You can present your idea in one of these eight categories.

They will lead the eyes of millions of spectators on a quest for beauty and truth, touching their souls with tales of reality and charm. Innovative photographers are invited to submit their best work on the main theme “Happiness“, as well as on three other themes:

UNHATE/UNAI Diversity Contest 2015

The United Nations Department of Public Information, in cooperation with the UNHATE Foundation is inviting university/college students and members of faculty, around the world, to develop, prepare, and present a specific initiative at the local or community level that clearly promotes the ideal of tolerance, respect for diversity and harmony within and between peoples as part of the UNHATE Foundation's/UNAI International Diversity Contest.

The project should relate to one or more of the general themes of the attached stories; please note that the specific "stories" attached  are only illustrative and it is their broad thrust, purpose and intent that the projects should focus upon.

The project should be clearly related to the community in which the Entrant(s) reside and aimed at promoting the global goals of the Contest among the members of the said community.The project should have practical relevance and its impact must be clearly measurable.

EAST AFRICAN ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION 2015

The East African Community Secretariat has organized the EAC students essay writing competition year 2015. The Essay writing competition is intended to broaden knowledge of the school going population on EAC activities. The topic for year 2015 in English is “Why is political stability important for the intergration of East African Community Partner States” In Kiswahili is “Jadili umuhimu wa utulivu wa kisiasa katika mtangamano wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki.''

Global Marketing Competition 2015

ESIC in collaboration with Santander and EFMD are running the 20th world edition of the Global Marketing Competition. The Competition is an advanced computer simulation of a real life business environment. Although marketing in nature, the game requires the players to take decisions in all the areas of managing a company, from production and logistics, through research, investment and finance to advertising, promotion and distribution.

2015 Global Business Challenge

The Global Business Challenge is a graduate business case competition to design sustainable solutions to global problems. The focus of the challenge for 2015 is one of Food Security. Specifically, the challenge is to design sustainable solutions to aid the achievement of global food security through the doubling of food production by 2040. Your team is to develop a solution that addresses the challenge anywhere across the food production value chain - from on-farm production, processing, manufacturing, logistics, sustainability or waste reduction. Your proposed solution may also fit across one or more specific industry sectors (such as crops, meat production, aquaculture etc). In formulating your solution you will need to demonstrate how your solution potentially delivers impact on a regional and global scale.

Competing teams will face off over two rounds to progress to the finals to be held in Brisbane in 3rd-6th November 2015.

Project Inspire 2015

Launched in 2011 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 25th anniversary of MasterCard in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa, “Project Inspire: 5 minutes to change the world” is a global challenge that presents 18-35 year olds with a 5-minute platform to pitch their inspired idea to the world. With a US$25,000 Grand Prize and US$10,000 Runner-Up Prize on offer to make their idea a reality, Project Inspire 2015 will take on the theme of ‘Technology or Design for Economic Empowerment’. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate how they use design or technology as a tool in the work they are doing to enable and empower women economically throughout Asia, the Pacific, Middle East & Africa.
