The Global Business Challenge is a
graduate business case competition to design sustainable solutions to global
problems. The focus of the challenge for 2015 is one of Food Security.
Specifically, the challenge is to design sustainable solutions to aid the
achievement of global food security through the doubling of food production by
2040. Your team is to develop a solution that addresses the challenge anywhere
across the food production value chain - from on-farm production, processing,
manufacturing, logistics, sustainability or waste reduction. Your proposed
solution may also fit across one or more specific industry sectors (such as
crops, meat production, aquaculture etc). In formulating your solution you will
need to demonstrate how your solution potentially delivers impact on a regional
and global scale.
Competing teams will face off over two rounds
to progress to the finals to be held in Brisbane in 3rd-6th November
2015.
Prizes:
Finalists will get a fully funded trip
to Australia to pitch their ideas to the Judges (For non-Australian finalist
teams, a generous travel subsidy of $12,500 (AUD) will be made available
to each team)

compete for:
- 1st Prize of $100,000
- 2nd prize of $15,000
- 3rd Prize of $10,000

Description:
Round 1 is a virtual round - open to
any team of postgraduate students from both business and technical disciplines
- where they with pitch their 'conceptual business solution' comprising a
combination of new technologies and innovative business and financing
models.
Six finalist teams will be selected to
come to an intensive 2 day lock-in phase where they will be required to address
a series of specific constraints reflecting real-world issues in order to make
their solution a reality. Finalists will present to a judging panel of global
CEOs and financiers.
Finalist Teams will compete for a share
of $AUD 125,000 in prize money.
Eligibility:
Participating students within a team
must meet the enrollment criteria being either:
- Currently enrolled in an eligible program of study OR
- have been enrolled in an eligible program of study during 2014.
An eligible program is any business or
technical discipline based postgraduate program of study (such as MBA, Masters
Degrees or other relevant post-graduate degree programs in business or
technical disciplines).
- Proposed team members not meeting these criteria may only participate with special permission of the organisers.
- Team membership shall comprise a minimum of three (3) student members and a maximum of four (4) student members plus a nominated alternate member in the event of illness of one of the core team members.

will be provided with a template for Round 1 submissions on Friday 1 May
2015 . This template will be the format for the 5 page Executive
Summary plus some guidance on developing your virtual pitch (which needs to be
